Ultra Wide Range Integrating Broadband Sound Level Meter (Octave Band Analyzers and Data Logging Systems Available)
The Casella CEL-630 series sound level meter is a powerful yet simple-to-use instrument capable of occupational, industrial, and environmental noise studies. With a measurement range of 20 to 140 dB, there is no need to adjust sound level ranges before recording a noise survey. In addition, the Casella CEL-630 series meter provides a great amount of detail, recording the A, C and Z (unweighted) channels for all measurements. It concurrently measures the Slow, Fast, Impulse and Peak responses and calculates the time average noise level with the 3, 4 and 5 dB exchange rates during each run. Moreover, the maximum, minimum, and time average noise levels are calculated and stored for all measurements with all the valid combinations of frequency weightings and time responses so that users will have all the information they need regardless of how the survey is setup or what parameters are chosen. In essence, the Casella CEL-630 series meter will collect all the information that a user might need despite how parameters are configured for a specific survey.
The Casella CEL-630 series sound level meter uses a high resolution quarter 240 x 320 LCD screen with color-coded menus to help simplify measurement for both new and experienced users. A green menu bar means that the instrument is collecting data while a red menu bar represents that the Casella CEL-630 series is in standby mode. A blue menu screen appears during survey setup. Yellow appears during calibration.
Calibration of Casella products is always pain-free. Simply, place the calibrator over the microphone and switch the acoustic calibrator on. The sound level meter will instantly recognize the tone and prompt the user to accept or decline calibration.
The Casella CEL-630 sound level meter is powered by three AAA batteries that can last up to twelve hours if the backlight is not used. An external 12 Vdc source such as a mains supply or car battery can be used for extended measurements.
Measurement results can be transferred to the computer using a USB and the Casella Insight software. Results that include audio files can be downloaded as well as integrated into a single comprehensive report with the Casella software.
The Casella CEL-630 series possesses different configurations for your specific application.
The Casella 630 series contains four different models: Casella CEL-630, Casella CEL-631, Casella CEL-632, and the Casella CEL-633. The Casella CEL-630 is the series base model while the Casella CEL-632 is the data logging version of the CEL-630 sound level meter. The Casella CEL-631 adds five more Statistical LN% parameters to the sound level meter’s measurement results but does not possess the ability to data log. The Casella CEL-633 sound level meter possesses the additional Statistical LN% parameter as well as the capability to data log. To see a graphical comparison of these sound level meters, visit the model comparison page. or Casella Solutions.
There are three versions of each model- A, B, and C- that differentiate the amount of detail that the sound level meter collects. The A version meter provides the overall broadband results with the A, C and Z (unweighted) channel for all measurements. The B version meter adds the ability to record 11 simultaneous octave bands from 16 Hz to 16 kHz while the C version model adds 33 third octave band measurements from 12.5 Hz to 20 kHz.
In addition, there are two microphones types that specify different accuracy levels. The Type 1 microphone is a precision grade microphone for use in complex environment surveys and laboratory use. The Type 2 microphone is a general use grade microphone that is often used for basic environment surveys and work noise surveys. As can be expected, a more accurate microphone can be used for basic surveys.
The Casella CEL-630 series sound level meter can be purchased alone or with one of two kits. Kit 1 features standard accessories that include an acoustic calibrator, carrying case, and three AA batteries. Kit 2 features all the accessories of Kit 1 with the addition of Casella’s Insight software that makes for easy interpretation and reports.
