Compare Casella CEL-350 Series Dosimeters: The Casella CEL 350-series dosimeters are cable-free, shoulder-mounted noise dosimeters for industrial hygienists and safety professionals. Being small and lightweight as well as snag-free, these dosimeters are hardly noticeable and safer than traditional noise dosimeters. Further, the built-in microphone is much less likely to be damaged as opposed to cable-mounted microphones, making these dosimeters less likely to be damaged. The Casella CEL-350 series has three models: the CEL-350lite, the CEL-350, and CEL 352 Plus. Buy a Casella CEL-350 series dosimeter.

Compare Casella CEL-630 Series Sound Level Meters: The Casella CEL-630 series sound level meters are Casella’s most advanced noise meters. They similar to the CEL-620 series with some additional beneficial features. Unlike the Casella CEL-620 series, the CEL-630 series possesses the ability to remotely attach a microphone and preamplifier via extension cable. In addition, some CEL-630 models have the ability to perform time history data logging and collect noise samples at regular intervals during a measurement. These features should appeal to those looking to perform advance noise studies in industrial and environmental noise settings. All Casella CEL-630 series sound level meters are available in ANSI/IEC Type 1 and Type 2 microphone accuracy classifications. Like the 620, they possess a measurement range from 20 to 140 dB. Compare Casella Sound Level Meters and Dosimeters
Noise is not only a nuisance but it can be harmful as well. Many people become confused on whether they should use sound level meters or dosimeters. Well, let’s compare Casella sound level meter’s applications to the dosimeter’s applications. A sound level meter measures noise in terms of decibels and is a good method of measuring an area’s noise emissions. This might include but is not limited to traffic noise, industrial noise, and environmental noise. In essence, a sound level meter is best used for noise emission spot-checks, identifying and evaluating sources of noise, evaluating the effectiveness of noise controls, and evaluating hearing protection. They can also be used to measure noise in place of a dosimeter where a dosimeter is unavailable or dangerous to an individual while performing a job. However, most doses will need to be calculated by the surveyor using the time-weight average and knowledge of regulatory standards. In other words, a sound level meter will not calculate a dose for a surveyor, he or she must do the math.
On the other hand, while the dosimeter measures decibels it also calculates the dose of an individual. The dose or permissible exposure limit will be based on regulatory standards chosen by the surveyor. Another important difference is that dosimeters are worn within an individual’s hearing zone, usually a two foot radius of a person’s ears. This makes measurements much more personal and results are specific to an individual as opposed to an area. For these reasons, dosimeters are almost always used for workplace noise studies and results vary depending on each person’s work situation even within the same room or workplace.
